Awards and Honors for Ann McGovern
- NEW AWARD
I received a very famous award from the Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies at the end of October, 2002. The award was given to me for my life's work of writing books and supporting libraries. It's called the Laura Parsons Pratt Award and I was delighted to receive it from an organization that helps children in many ways in New York City.
- Earthworm Award for Little Whale, for the book that "does the most to encourage environmental awareness and sensitivity in children."
- First woman Lucky Book Club's Author of the Year from Scholastic Books
- Bill Clinton awarded Ann the Arkansas Traveler Award when he was Governor of Arkansas
- These four books were named "Outstanding Science Books for Children" by the National Science Teachers Association and The Children's Book Council:

- The International Biographical Roll of Honor for distinguished service to Education and the Writing Professions.
- Many of Ann McGovern's books were nominated for state awards, voted by the children of those states.
- Scram, Kid! won the Horn Book award and was included on "The Best of the Fall Season" list.
- Nicholas Bentley Stoningpot III was listed in The Best and the Brightest of the year by the Chicago Sun-Times. A TV "Reading Rainbow" selection.
- Night Dive was named Booklist's "Editor's Choice."
- Little Wolf was selected for the American Humane Association's List of Recommended Books.
- Half A Kingdom was named a "notable children's book in the field of social studies," chosen for The Reading Rainbow television program, and was a Junior Literary Guild selection.
